    Juanita E. "Hannele" Brown, 88 of Fryeburg, passed away on July 2, 2012 at her daughter's home surrounded by family members.
    She was born to Georg Weigelt and Charlotte Neumeister on December 22, 1923 on a tobacco plantation in San Andres Tuxtla, Mexico. Juanita was a soft-spoken and generous woman who loved to dance and visit the ocean. She had many artistic talents including: fashion designing, drawing and painting, and in later years photography and embroidery. She was a courageous survivor of WWII.
    In 1947 she married Philip Brown of Flushing, NY; a captain in the U.S. Army and assistant director of the UNRRA team. They had two daughters Joan and Vicki whom they raised in Westburg, NY and survived Juanita. Along with her daughters she is survived by her sister, Dolores Prittwitz and brother Peter Weigelt, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Juanita was predeceased in death by her parents and husband.
    A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Fryeburg Assembly of God followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Fryeburg. Arrangements are made with Wood Funeral Home.
